Improving the physical and environmental conditions of the prison system not only promotes the rehabilitation of inmates but also benefits the entire population working in those spaces. An improved prison environment reduces stress, improves mental health, and strengthens the sense of community among prison staff. Therefore, improving the environment has a positive impact on both the rehabilitation of inmates and the overall well-being of the prison community. The ultimate goal is to reduce recidivism by offering inmates a new opportunity for social reintegration through physically inspiring changes conceived through architecture.
