The design of a therapeutic pool within the Old Arsenal of the Spanish Navy in Puerto Rico harmoniously blends the historic context with modern aesthetics, creating a unique and enriching space for healing. The historical significance of the "Old Arsenal," once a naval shipyard, is preserved through adaptive reuse, in which the architectural elements of the former structure are seamlessly integrated into the modern design of the therapeutic pool facility. The pool, located within the historic boundaries, draws on traditional Spanish and Caribbean influences in its design, with graceful arches, warm colors, and textured surfaces that pay homage to the region's cultural heritage. The juxtaposition of historic and modern design not only celebrates the site's rich past but also emphasizes the commitment to contemporary wellness practices. The therapeutic pool becomes a symbol of the evolving relationship between history and progress, where the importance of thoughtful design goes beyond aesthetics to encompass the well-being and rejuvenation of people within a culturally significant space.
